Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an important part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Integrating ESD and green chemistry into learning is a step towards realizing the sustainability goals. Teachers through their learning in the classroom play an important role in promoting the achievement of all SDGs, one of which is by developing learning designs. The purpose of this study is to find out chemistry teachers' opinions on the importance of integrating ESD and Green Chemistry in chemistry learning at school. This integration is important because it is closely related to learning design related to science literacy, which not only includes understanding scientific concepts but also the ability to apply them to solve real-world problems, including environmental and sustainability issues. A descriptive research method was used in this study with 45 chemistry teachers in Bandung City as participants. Data collection was conducted using an online questionnaire developed with a Likert scale consisting of 10 questions regarding the importance of learning chemistry with ESD and Green Chemistry. The results showed that the majority of teachers with 60% strongly agreed and 37.8% agreed that topics in chemistry learning have the potential to be associated with the concepts of ESD and Green Chemistry. In addition, all teachers with 60% strongly agree and 40% agree stated that practicum learning methods can be integrated with the concept of green chemistry, also chemistry learning can be associated with social, economic, and environmental issues.
